King raw brass Fidelio: McCracken design, The Nisi Eroica's little sibling.

George McCracken’s Eroica and Fidelio Double horns are exceptionally open designs. There are no tight turns. As a rule they play well. The nylon/plastic stop plates and linkage on the change valve are problematic and I’ve reworked some and replaced those parts. This particular horn was screwbelled using either a Dürk or B&S ringset (I’ve forgotten) for portability. It’s too bad that these models aren’t still produced. As a weird testimonial to the design, I’ve seen a pacific rim knockoff of the Eroica, which was probably brass and plated with either nickel or silver. Not interchangeable, but the sense was there, probably junk….
