As I was purging my iPhoto program of duplicate pix I ran across this pix of a jupiter ringset on a C Series 6D Conn. The set sat high enough that there was a sizable cut off from the bottom of the bell  brace, so it became a visual part of the conversion. It has no function but could have been used to reinforce a crack in the flare. This must have been done a few years ago because I haven’t used Jupiter ringsets for quite a while. You can see the ironing of the flare of creases, and the scars the creases leave. I’ve seen horns where the repair person sanded the creae scars in an effort to hide them, and the flare then has dangerously thin places, which, if stressed in the future will fail ‘big time’.
