#1. A Brass Holton 180/280.  This is the model that is the yellow brass version of the H179.. Serial number 617689. 180:280Holton-4 Detachable bell. The ring-set, installed later, is the Alex compatible  8d sized Conn/Selmer ring-set.  The horn plays very well in tune with a good sound throughout all ranges. A very strong lower range, with a good high range.  It has that huge sound from a large bore horn, but without the NiSi über edge. Much more mellow. Nickel tuning slides and outer sheaths.180:280Holton-1 It is in very solid playing condition, but somewhat cosmetically challenged, this is not a drum & bugle corps completely shiny marching horn! It has been stripped of the lacquer in areas where work was done in the past and those areas will achieved a lovely patina. 180:280Holton-8It has the factory water key. The valves have excellent compression. This is a good horn for a serious student/ adult who is conscious of space considerations, and is seeking a large throat horn. The case is a factory Holton fixed bell case.  Pay Pal or checks OK. The instrument will be shipped within 48 hours following receipt of payment. Email questions. More pix available.

Buyer pays shipping based upon the USPS priority mail calculator to your zip code. @ 18 LBS 18X 18 X 26 “ box.
Overseas OK, but not to countries with the 2m limit girth + one length, in its  case. Could be sent using bubble wrap and no case.
If you don’t want the Holton case and you already have a screwbell case you like, I’ll deduct $75.00 for the holton case. I also have a few screwbell cases which could be added, ask.

$1750.00

#2 A detachable bell Nickel Silver King Eroica. December eroica-1The ring-set is Conn/ Selmer’s  large throat and alex compatible. Serial #4895XX, Lacquer is stripped, except flare which retains the lacquer, (I’ll, strip it if you want, N/C.)   Some pitting to NiSi hand and guard and the lead-pipe sheath.December eroica-4Very good fast valves with very good compression.  Indicators of back bow dent removal a few dings in hard to reach places, some pitting to the top hand guards. December eroica-5Plays with that huge fee blowing McCracken sound. Well centered and in-tune across Bb and F sides. All slides work smoothly. The black nylon/plastic stop plates had been replaced with metal ones, newly corked and strung. December eroica-3Excellent serious HS/ University student or adult player that desires a Large bore NiSi horn. Not recommended for a young or Middle school student due to the size of the bore, which requires a steady, trained, focused air column. Shipped in a fixed bell King case in OK useable, but not new condition.  December eroica-2Additional pix available, ask questions.

#3. F. Schediwy Double mostly raw brass, plays very much like an Alex 103, no serial number Schediwy-2This horn is mostly raw brass, some lacquer remains, It plays very much like an Alex 103. It has a one piece hand hammered bell and mechanical linkage. The change lever is a “attached at the top ” style. I like it but some find it different enough to be disconcerting. Schediwy-4 The inner slides are nickel.  Cool old horn, which has been played by Professionals and was given high marks.
